The UK is set to progress with employing the entire amount of frozen Russian funds to support Ukraine's defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a shared declaration, the leaders of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They clarified that the initiative would be executed in strong partnership with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russia's funds since the Russian government began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. But, up to this point, resources allocated to Ukraine using Russian holdings had only been sourced from earnings and returns generated on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and Germany were united in their desire to push forward toward employing the complete amount of the immobilized Moscow's national funds to conclude the conflict.

He stated that more sanctions over the next period would heighten the tension on Russia.

This announcement follows EU officials convened in the Danish capital previously to discuss utilizing seized Russia's holdings for a €140 billion credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to take or employ frozen Russia's funds, according to media sources.

The worth of seized Russia's funds in the EU is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

Moscow carried out widespread bombardments all over Ukraine on recently, leading to blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the city, and eight other regions.

Several persons were lost their lives and a minimum of 20 people were hurt in the strike, Ukrainian officials reported.

In a message on X after the attack, Zelensky stated that the strategic strike focused on public and utility structures.

"What's needed is not empty words but concrete steps - from the United States, the European Union, and the seven nations - in delivering air defence systems and applying penalties," he emphasized.

"Each restrictive measure weakens Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky told media outlets he would press Sir Keir to enter the Purl programme, under which Nato countries purchase weapons from the United States to provide to Ukraine.

While applauding the United Kingdom's consistent assistance for Kyiv, he said it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the initiative, as well as enforce more restrictions on the Russian Federation.
