Two Victims Revealed in Brown University Attack as Authorities Persist in Search for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in Saturday’s violent attack on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their killer continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the only individual of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

She served as the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also shared condolences publicly, remarking: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her family and friends, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a raid at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“There is a killer at large,” said Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you need to change course and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so.”
