Renowned Star Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.
US actor Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic television series such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, according to media reports.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones said in a message.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive Career on Screen
His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on several well-known programs, including:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His film credits are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Beyond his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his family.
