Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
