Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
A high-ranking official stated the vandalism made him stunned and required to be solved promptly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
