Arne Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his position following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

Slot lamented known failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with performances so bad.”

He stated, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
